In replies to peers, provide additional examples to support the ideas presented.

BUS 352 Topic 8 DQ 1

Rejecting the null hypothesis that the population slope is equal to zero or no relationship and concluding that the relationship between x and y is significant does not enable one to conclude that a cause-and-effect relationship is present between x and y. Explain why. In replies to peers, provide support of the ideas presented by peers or refute the ideas by providing evidence to the contrary.

BUS 352 Topic 8 DQ 2

Discuss the statistics that must be evaluated when reviewing the regression analysis output. Provide examples of what the values represent and an explanation of why they are important. In replies to peers, discuss whether you agree or disagree with the assessment provided by peers and explain why.

BUS 352 Topic 2 CLC – Defining the Problem and Variables

This is a Collaborative Learning Community (CLC) assignment.

The purpose of this assignment is to define a business problem and variables, and to collect preliminary data for statistical analysis.

In this topic, you will begin a group case study assignment that will continue through Topics 2, 3, and 7. Additionally, the data collected for the assignment will also be used for an individual assignment in Topic 6. Assignments build upon one another, and it is expected that you will utilize instructor feedback provided on the Topic 2 and 3 assignments when completing the Topic 7 assignment.

Part 1:

For this assignment, your group will select one of the scenarios from the “Case Study Scenarios” topic resource. Based upon the scenario requirements, your group will complete the following steps:

  1. Define the problem.
  2. List the project objectives.
  3. Identify the categorical and continuous variables related to the problem.
  4. Conduct research to collect preliminary data based upon the scenario specifications. Data collection should include the past 6 periods (e.g., months, seasons, years).
  5. Using Excel and the preliminary data, create at least two related graphs. Descriptive statistics, including mean, median, skewness, standard deviation, and a five number summary are required for all continuous variables.

Part 2

Using the “Project Status Report Template, create a 500-750 word status report for your manager or project sponsor.

Submit the Excel spreadsheet and completed “Project Status Report Template.”

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

BUS 352 Topic 6 Benchmark – Hypothesis Testing

The purpose of this assignment is to interpret the results of hypothesis testing and identify potential ethical dilemmas associated with the statistics and their analysis.

Part 1:

Using the preliminary data collected in the Topic 2 assignment, complete two hypothesis tests relevant to the specific requirements of your scenario. To ensure tests are not duplicated, collaborate with the other members of your group to identify specifically which data each person in the group will be utilizing in the hypothesis tests. For example, if you are comparing sports teams, one member of the group might compare the Tigers and the Rams, while another member of the group might compare the Sharks and the Eagles.

Using Excel, complete the two hypothesis tests using different data sets at a .05 level of significance. Generate a box plot for each test. The accuracy of formulas and the box plot visuals will be assessed.

Part 2

Statistical analysis can create a number of ethical challenges. Review the “Ethical Guidelines for Statistical Practice,” “Statement on the Integration of Faith and Work,” and the servant leadership and conscious capitalism study materials. Consider the principle of “do no harm” and how, through application of a Christian worldview perspective, ethical challenges related to sampling methods, treatment of outliers, selection of levels, or significance can be anticipated and addressed to ensure that statistical analysis is completed effectively, efficiently, and ethically.

Provide a 750-1,000 summary of the hypothesis tests and ethical issues related to statistical analysis. The summary should address the following:

  1. Summary of the business scenario.
  2. Definition of the variables and sources.
  3. Rationale for the type of hypothesis tests used.
  4. Null and alternative hypothesis.
  5. Two hypothesis tests with results that include test statistic, critical value(s), and p-value.
  6. Box plot visuals for each hypothesis test.
  7. Interpretation of the statistical results of the hypothesis tests.
  8. Discussion of potential ethical dilemmas associated with each hypothesis test, including explanation of how the principle of “do no harm” and a Christian worldview perspective could be applied to ensure the statistical analysis was completed ethically. Include discussion of how sampling methods, treatment of outliers, selection of levels, or significance, etc. should be addressed for ethical compliance.
  9. Summary of the hypothesis testing results and how these can be applied to the specified business scenario.

Submit the Excel spreadsheet and Word summary document.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

  1. Describe the data tested.
  2. Explain which hypothesis test was done and why it was done.
  3. Present the box plot visual output of the hypothesis test.
  4. Provide an interpretation of the box plot output.
